Modern Bohemian Wedding at River Bend
The Love Story
Charlie and I started dating in early 2015, got engaged in our backyard on a snowy January day in 2019, were slated to get married in July 2020, and finally tied the knot in June 2021. Though the journey was long (and arduous at times, especially when we had to postpone), the process compelled us to slow down, take a deep breath, and really think through what we wanted to prioritize when planning one of the most important days of our lives.
We knew we wanted to throw a party for our favorite people where everyone could unequivocally be themselves.
We also wanted every piece of the day to feel like us, so we spent time building our ceremony content with our officiant, and we put our heads together with our fabulous wedding planner, Elise, to come up with a vision for the design and feel of the entire day to give it a modern bohemian feel. And with the extra year, we were able to hone in on the personal details – we welded our own wedding arch (modeled after my ring, which has a hexagonal center stone), turned our ’87 Volkswagen Van into a photo booth, and kicked off cocktail hour with some jazz tunes from Charlie, his father, and his former bandmates.
When it all came together, we could not have been happier with the result. The entire day was a celebration of love and of life; it was pure magic on a warm summer day.
